Certificate Course: Creative Music Teaching Workshop for Kindergarten and Primary School Teachers – An Introduction to Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze Music Teaching Approaches
Infusing interesting and interactive elements in music classrooms so that students can feel and express music freely has often been a concern for teachers. What is the best way to make learning interesting for the students while providing a “balanced diet” of activities in music classrooms to enhance effective learning?
Targeted for in-service and pre-service kindergarten and primary school teachers as well as music class teachers, this course will introduce the rationale and teaching objectives of the Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze methodologies. Through active-learning activities, participants will understand the heart and focus of each approach (‘singing’ in Kodaly, ‘performing’ in Orff and ‘movement activities’ in Dalcroze), and learn to implement these approaches practically in their teaching. At the end of the workshop, participants should have a deeper understanding of the three approaches, and be able to develop creative strategies in their daily teaching.
Participants who have attended at least 75% and pass the assessment of the course will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.
Course content includes:
