Dr. NG, Wai Man is the first registered music therapist returning to Hong Kong after further studies in the UK (2004), and the first (2009) registered Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) Therapist in the Chinese region, and the only local music therapist with a PhD. Dr. Ng graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA, HK) in his early years, majoring in Chinese music, and successively received a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours) (Kingston, UK), a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) (C&GCHE, UK), and Postgraduate Diploma in Music Therapy (Roehampton, UK), Graduate Diploma in Guided Imagery and Music (Distinction) (Melbourne, AU), Master of Arts in Psychology of Music (Sheffield, UK), Master of Arts in Music Therapy (Merit) (Anglia Ruskin, UK) and Doctor of Philosophy (Melbourne, AU). Dr. Ng was once the chairman of the Hong Kong Music Therapy Association. He is currently a part-time lecturer, adjunct assistant professor and supervisor at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Music School), Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts School of Performing Arts (EXCEL), The University of Hong Kong (SPACE), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Music Department) and many universities. In recent years, Dr. Ng has often participated in academic conferences and teaching work around the world, in order to share his music therapy research experience with overseas students and experts. Throughout the years, he has travelled to more than ten countries and regions for teaching and presentation. He is a very active music therapist and music therapy researcher and educator.
