Freddy AU YEUNG Fung-yin

Born in Canada and raised in Hong Kong, Freddy received scholarship and graduated from Berklee College of Music, Boston, majoring in Vocal Performance and minoring in Drama. He is now a singer, actor and musician.

As a musical lover, Freddy actively engages in many musical productions and performances, both in Hong Kong and Boston, including Berklee’s Singer’s Night 2015, City of Angels, and The Emperor’s New Clothes (Lead Role). He was nominated as a proud representative for the Musical Theatre Initiative (the Maltby Award) with the musical Godspell – held at the Kennedy Centre American College Theatre Festival.

Freddy is experienced in Chinese Pop Music, participating in the opening of various large-scale acts. He was nominated by the Hong Kong music producer/composer Chiu Tsang Hei to record the theme song for The 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s return. He also had the opportunity to grace the stage with the pop star, Wang Lee Hom, at the prestigious Boston Symphony Hall. He had voice-acted and sang in movies, including “My Little Pony” and “Frozen”.

Apart from performing, Freddy has a great passion in teaching the younger generation. He teaches singing and musical theatre in local companies and schools. Under his coaching, Freddy successfully helped his students with their college applications, including the New York University, Berklee College of Music and Emerson College.

Freddy is the singing coach for four consecutive years of the Summer Musical School (SMS) at HKAPA EXCEL. The musicals of the years include Oz to the Future, New Kids on the Block, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Cinderella.
